while trying to backup the green mile i have encountered problems...i use dvd2avi and it acts as though it is functioning properly and creates an avi file but when i try to play this file i cant..also when i have tried to go ahead and make an mpeg the resulting file has no audio...does anyone know what i can do?

The only time that I don't get audio on an mpeg converted from divx is when the bitrate is all screwed up or skewed. Download Virtual Dub 1.4.8 (I think that's the latest) and then open your avi. If you get an error message such as your bitrate being off by ms, then you'll have to decompress the avi audio and then reencode the avi by direct stream video and full processing audi...see Nicky's digital solutions for more details
