I have a Sony STR-DE897. When trying to setup to play my DVD player in Dolby Digital the display reads "Dolby Digital 3/2.1" I am using an optical connection straight from my DVD player. Is this Dolby surround 5.1? If not, how do I fix it.

Yes, its dolby digital 5.1.

Hi,

3/2.1 means 3 front channels (Left,centre, right) and 2 surround channels. The .1 means LFE channel.
