what file or format does the file have to been in to play the dvd that i burn. i am new at this and i have been d/l a lot of movies, and it seems i can only play them on my computer. i bought a lot of dvd-r's and i want to play them on my dvd play on my tv, but it wont let me. what am i doing wrong?
please help,

Most downloads are usually in AVI format but could be other types of files also. They usually need converted to proper dvd format before burning them to a blank. Here is one guide that should get you started.

for one thing it sound like you burning your movies to a data disc if you cant play it,
If you not then you not doing it right, I used Neros express 2 to burn my movies to dvd, it could be either (avi, mpeg,vso, or any format that you program can used) check you properties, or search for it
make sure if in the right settling when you burn it

You cant just burn avi's and mpegs in nero express, or burning rom, or whatever, and expect them to play in all dvd players,they have to be authored first.
Nerovision express,yes but nero express,no
