reauthoring from existing VOB files

Greetings Folks - I am trying to reauthor a DVD from existing VOB files. I need to add this existing video footage to a new DVD layout. I am using iDVD on Mac OSx10.3 to author and burn. I need to be able to create a MPEG or similiar Quicktime compatible file . I have tried OpenShiva and OSex to create a QT compatible file but while they convert the video OK the audio is lost. Please help if you can. (Preferably with links to some free software downloads that will do the job!). Thanks Heaps in advance! (Just for interest sake, I am not seeking to copying any copyrighted material) :-)
