An annoying right side blur?!

Hi, can anyone help me with this...I converted an old VHS to DVD via a DVD Recorder and then ripped the contents onto the computer for encoding. However with the DivX version I have this very weird blur on the side where the screen just seems to smudge everything.



Can anyone tell me why this happened and how to either fix it by capturing it from the VHS again, correcting what has happened or even someway to just cut that side of the screen off...
