Is there a program that can repair .avi or .mpg files?

I have a film that will play but causes my player (windows media player) to crash at exactly the same point but if I search past it before it plays that part it will be fine

Try streaming it through VirtualDub.

(Select "normal recompress" or "fast recompress" for video, and "direct stream copy" for audio. Shouldn't take long, it's worth a try)
