RAM and decode/encode speed

I have 512MB DDR400 (dual channel) and a P4 2.8
Will decode/encode speed benefit much if I go to 1GB RAM? Thanks for any advice.

I went from 2 gigs to 1 gig of pc 2700 dd ram and saw quite a bit of speed difference.Especially when I would use dvd shrink's quality enhancements on those larger DVD-9 movies. More ram shouldn't hurt.Some people believe processor speed while others think more ram will speed it up. I'm still shopping to replace my 1 gig stick that got fried to get me back to normal.
