My DVD burner won't burn below 4x

WTF? Even when I put it on 1x it just flies up to 4.0x or 4.1x.

I haven't burnt a sucessful backup yet >_<

I t may depend on what media you are using. Some media wont let you burn any lower than 4x, but some media does. Ritek go4, i burn at 2x but Go5 can only be burnt as low as 4x. But backuos should still work at 4x anyway using some media

I have 1 burner that only goes down to 2x and another that goes down to 1x. Newer burners are faster and some tend to have higher minimum speeds than slower burners (I think). Check that out. It's either the burner or the media.

Hi, I'm a newbie so I might as well be the one to ask.
Why does everyone burn at such slow speeds? I burn at max, which for me is 8x, and everything turns out fine.
