How do you get the F: drive on an original xbox HDD

I just installed the xbit chip on my 1.6 xbox and everything seems to be working fine, but I can't seem to get the F: drive on my harddrive. I tried the format F: drive from the evoX dash, but it doesn't seem to be working.....Could anyone help me out? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
