I have a maxtor 120gb hard drive, I want to use this on my ps2. But how do I wipe out the contents so it can be used on a PS2. I can format it using HD Advance, but I need to know which is the best program to use to completly wipe out the drive. This is my secondary drive, by the way. Are there any softwares which can help wipe out the hard drive?
Thanks, but I know how to format the hard drive. You see this drive is formatted and has been used on my PC. It has alot files in it. I need to know how to wipe this drive out, is there a software I can use. Money is no issue.
I have 2 hard drives in my PC, I want to use the second drive which is a maxtor drive. All I want to know is how to wipe this drive out completly.
Well I really don't see why you want to whie your drive. If you format it with HD Advance it a differnt format that windows uses and it'll be done. If you are worried about personal information on your HD and you think someone will take your harddrive and try to recover the information on it there are programs on the market that will SCRUB your drive, but we are talking BIG $$$$$ in the 1000's.
Just do a quick format in windows and then let HD Advance do the rest and you'll be ready to go.
Yeah just doing a windows format amnd then haveing HD Advance format it wil;l pretty much have your drive back to nothing on it just liek when you bought it.
captnkidd thanks for your input. Ok so all I do is format the hard drive and it would be as good as new.
I have 2 hard drives, so when I go to 'my computer' I should right click the drive I want to format and select 'format' and then select 'quick format', then 'start'.
That should be it right? I then put it in the PS2, and load up HD Advance which should format.
When I use this method to format, this should wipe the contents and I should be left with all the free space, is that right?
