I'm a new member to this site. One of the first things I did was to try answer an old post and was rejected for being a noob.

In some forums, you must post monthly in order to maintain membership. (This helps to keep moochers away)
I've read the rules, and I was wondering if an inactivity rule exits that I'm unaware of, since I don't see why noobs would randomly reply otherwise.

I respect this forum and site, and would hate to be banned for some kind of unspoken rule. Especially since I don't have constant access to the internet. Unfortunately, I don't have much 'allowed' information to offer this forum, but I'll try my best.
I enjoy being a part of this great site you guys have.

as far as I know there's no inactivity rule

For the best quality mp3s use EAC (exact audio copy) to rip your audio CDs and LAME to encode them. Follow this guide:

There is a member statis limitation on older posts. I'm not sure of the numbers. Check with Nephilim or Flip218. I'm sure they have the exact specs for you. Its something like only Members and above can post to threads older than 60 days or something like that.

This thread shows the post count needed to move up in the ranking. Be advised that you may reach the count needed but won't change right away. The actual change is done about every 5 or 6 weeks.

I can't remember the exact time limit for bringing up old threads. Do you have a link to the thread you wanted to post to?

Yes, only Members & above can post to threads where the last post has been done for more than 60 days ago. Reason? Because our forums attract ridiculous amounts of traffic from search engines, people tend to drop to threads, decide they have completely unrelated question, be generally very very dumb and hit the reply and ask their question in the thread they landed when they arrived from search engines. This happened a lot before we set this rule.

Imagine a thread, something like:

person 1: Hey guys, how do I burn my VIDEO_TS folder to a DVDR with Nero?

person 2: http://afterdawn.com/guides/ and look it up from there.

person 1: Thanks for the help, problem solved!

person 3 -- The Newbie: I got this Britney Spears CD and I'd like to copy it to a DVDR so I can also see the music videos, HOW CAN I DO IT!!!111???

I could find a link to the thread if you want me to..
But as the 60 day prompt said: The have probably already had it answered. No big deal.

I have 502 posts and I'm still listed as a member. Is the promotion automatic, or does a moderator have to change it manually?

Not that it matters much but I think first jump to Junior is 25 posts. We probably won't see any changes until the new equipment is running.

Hi there ScubaBud, Last time I checked I'm up to 2575 on the post count. It should be more but 75% of my answer posts won't go through right now so I'm just waiting until the forum gets fixed. Don't worry too much about that $20. you owe me. I'm not charging you too much interest on it. Lets see 5% compounded daily shouldn't be too much to ask.(LOL)

If you get enough people to pay you that 5% a minute, maybe then you could change over from wind powered PC's with the crank on the side to the kind that plug into an A/C outlet like we have down here! :)

I'm just an old softy when it comes to charging for my services. I never expect to make more than 200/300% profit. I try to keep it reasonable.
