ive followed this guide to the letter

http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/convert_avi_to_dvd_page_6.cfm

but as i live in England ive assumed that i may need to change some of the settings to fit into a PAL environment. At the moment i have about 10 avi's some have been converted exactly like the guide says and some have not, the problem is that none of them work on my stand alone dvd player (the one plugged into my telly), they all work fine on my PC though. When i try to play them i just get a message saying "No Play" appear and obviously nothing happens.

Do i need to do something specific to change the AVI's to work on a PAL dvd player (im assuming the AVI's are in a NTSC standard)?

please help me

What type of disks are you using? +R or -R?
Does your player play either/both?
How are you authoring the dvd's?
How are you burning them?

You might be dealing with a compatibility issue with your standalones try this chart:http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers

If that doesnt solve the problem try this bit of freeware:http://www.vso-software.fr/download.htm
divxtodvd, this allows for you to chose either NTSC, or PAL,and is fast and simple to use, heres a guide for divxtodvd:http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/vso_divxtodvd_guide.cfm

good luck
jim
