I have been able to successfully backup my games to iso's, burn them and play using viper,... however, all my gcm images that I was streaming using PSO for so long now won't play using viper after I burn them?... Tried several different burn settings? Has anybody had any success with gcm images?

okay so it looks like it's just the one image that I can't get to work.... final fantasy crystal chronicles. Just burned a different gcm image and it worked great.

Yeah, rename it from *.gcm to *.iso
Then use Nero (ONLY NERO) and burn the DVD MAKE SURE to finalize the disk.

Mine worked fine.

Express doesn't have the setting,
You need the actual Nero, which you have if you have express

I just got the Viper mod chip installed and the Cobra 4 bios. I have issues when I try to boot games.

I'm using Nero to burn the game and I did rename the image from .gcm to .iso and same problem.

I get and error saying -
AN ERROR HAS OCCURRED

TURN THE POWER OFF AND CHECK THE GC INSTURCTION BOOKLET FOR FURTHER INSTRUCTION

Does anyone have any ideas.

Thats a common Disc Reading Error, tweak pot, burn slower speed or use another media or do everything of those if not work. and check from somewhere does that game even work yet.

I'm using Pro Disc Media.

I'm getting all my images from newsgroups so im sure 99.98% of them work because I have 90 games for my PS2 and I get them all from newsgroups.

Do you think I should go with Ritek Media?

dude, I wouldn't go advertising that you are actually downloading your images.. You're likely to get banned. These forums are for legally backing up your games that you actually own in the first place.

Besides, that means nothing about if the GC images will work. GC's have specific data layout formats that are unique to how it works with regards to dvd reading. It's not as simple as just copying files & directory structors like it is with virtualy every other system.

A great majority of those GC images were poorly done rips that are badly wiped and pretty much only work with streaming options. Can try fixing them with those wipped gcm fixer utilities, but they only fix specific issues and can't repair an image that was simply done half a--ed, as many of those images are.

Which is kind of a good thing since it will help keep these mod chips's use as legimiate as possible.
