KOTOR 2 problems

I backed up kotor 2 on to my hardrive and when I played for about 30 minutes, it gets to a point where a cutscene plays and then my screen goes black. What is weird is that I can access the menu screen by pressing pause but when I get back to the game the screen is still black. Has this happen to anyone else? and if so, can you help me out

It's happened to me 2 .the first time I played that I got past the driod part just fine but the second time was no luck and I fixed by rerentig and played past that part.
