This is the 3rd. time in 1.5 years I have had a problem but the first time I actually needed to post to get out of a jam. So thanks to all the contributors that have unknowingly helped me in the past.

I normally rip & burn using Shrink & Nero. My rip goes fine but I get an error upon burning for some reason.

I have flashed my DVD drive with the latest firmware, updated shrink uninstalled & reinstalled and updated Nero, updated my APSI layer and I am still having problems.

After performing these tasks my rips are back up to speed (14 minutes at best) but the error remains on burn.

Does this log give anyone an idea of my problem?

What kind of media are you using?Its my guess, its something cheap.You shouldnt burn cheap stuff at 8x,you'll be lucky to get a good burn at 4x, or even 2x.So slow down your burn speed and try again.

It's Memorex DVD+R that I have used numerous times.

It was from a new spindle so I'll have to borrow a disc from a friend and I will try a burn at a slower speed also.

You were right JD, I restricted the burn speed to 4X and it worked fine. 6X might have worked but I have made enough coasters in the last 2 days!

The new spindle of Memorex discs I have sport the "Is it live or is it Memorex" tag written in white just around the disc center. My other discs without this were fine at 8X.

how can you change the speeds? someone told me to get a different dvdr and change to a slower speed, but my verbatims wont let it change. i always thought verbatim was good. whats the best brand for doing this (someone whos used the same brand for a long time)

Im glad that fixed your problem.If you really want to know about your media, you can download a thing called dvdinfopro.(free)http://www.dvdinfopro.com/

The thing about memorex is, that they outsource there work to whoever will do the job at the time, so you never really know what your going to get,and if you get the media id code CMC MAG,its mostly crap.
If you want to increase your success rate with those memorex, keep burning at a slow rate,and change your target size in dvd shrink to around 4300.That way your not writting on the outer edge of the disc, where the cheap media tends to fail.

Some app's will let you change speeds,and some wont.I personally dont buy any media thats rated any higher than 4x(just my preference some people burn faster without a problem),so you dont have to worry about burning too fast.
Verbatim is a very good choice of media, so if your going to burn fast,then you should be ok with those.Ive been using the verbatim digital movie disc(they look like a movie reel)and ive never had a problem with them,after 200+ burns.
