Zenith DVT216 on screen menu acting up

I have a Zenith DVT216 HTIB with integrated dvd player. Wierd thing goes on when in dvd mode. I power up, and before even putting in a dvd, whats displayed on screen is all scrambled. When I play a dvd and then press "stop" it shows "zenith" on the screen the way it should, but then when I eject the dvd it goes right back to being scrambled. Doesn't stop me from doing anything just annoying that the screen is all scrambled. Any insight would be very much appreciated.
