A power calibration error is most often caused by poor quality media. What brands/types of media have you tried? What make model burner are you using? Firmware version?

Do you get this error with just one particular image file or does it happen no matter what you try to burn?

Try uninstalling the drive through Device Manager.
Go to Device Manager >
Expand the tree for DVD/CD ROM Drives >
Find the drive in question, right click it and go to Properties >
Under the Driver tab, select Uninstall then OK.
Now reboot and Windows should detect and reinstall the drive.
If this doesn't help try the same steps as above except expand the tree for IDE ATA/ATA Controllers and uninstall either the Primary or Secondary controller depending on which one the drive in question is attatched to. Nero Info Tool can tell you which chain the drive is on under the Configuration tab.

When your pc "crashed" what did you have to do to "fix" it?
If not the media, then this is likely a physical problem with the drive. It may be related to the crash, or quite coincidental. You might try cleaning the drive, physically disconnecting it and reconnecting it. It could be that the drive is just failing.

I have a similar problem with my pioneer a06. I was burning a disc when the power went out and now the drive will only burn CD's. I use printco discs and have done so for almost a year with no drink coasters at all. It comes up with a power calibration error when intitializing the burn with Nero....... naughty dvd burner...... Just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem and if they were able to fix it. Also this new dvd protection comming out this year...... will it be the end of shrink? or will the mighty rise to the occassion?
