dvd disc Faulty?

hi just bought some blank dvd-r burnt them then discovered they would'nt play in the dvd drive or standalone player used another brand and worked fine in both! does this sound like a batch of faulty discs? rather than incompatability surely the discs should play on the computer they were burned on if nothing else? also noticed the ones that worked had a purple dye are they more reliable Thanx

Sounds like you got a bad batch--take them back!About the purple dye--I have found that disks with that purple dye are very good--Stick with Taiyo Yuden, Sony, Maxell, Ricoh and there are a few others--store brands are not recommended and neither are Memorex--
