I just got my PnP No Solder Chip and my SM 3.3 Disks yesterday... Installed the chip and it is working because I can eject the drive without the PS2 resetting. I am able to load original games. I went to load a backup and it tells me that the disk is not a valid PS2 disk. I am using Sony DVD-R at 2x burn speed. I have tried downloaded images and backups of my originals.
Here is what I think is happening and I cannot figure out how to resolve the issue. When I boot the Swap Magic DVD (or CD it really does not matter) I get the :Splash" screen that has Load Program... I eject the drive and it says on the screen to insert a larger TOC disk. I put in the largest PS2 disk I have (4.34GB) and it says that it is Refreshing and then goes back to the Swap Magic screen. Now it says to put in my own program (I am assuming that means my backup), so I eject the drive to put in my backup, but on the screen it says again to load a larger TOC disk. I put in my backup anyway and it says that it is not a valid PS2 disk.
At first I thought I was using bad media even though I was using Sony disks. So I went out and bought some Ritek disks and the same thing is happening. Nothing has changed at all. Then it hit me... I think the TOC is not getting refreshed correctly and when I put in the backup disk it tells me that it is not a valid PS2 disk because it is not wanting the backup yet, it is wanting a real PS2 game to set the TOC.
No matter what game I put in it keeps wanting a disk to set the TOC and never gets to a point to where it wants to load the backup disk. Once the TOC is refreshed and you eject the drive to load the backup, should it still ask for a larger TOC disk? Or what should it do? I am assuming that after the TOC has been sucessfully refreshed that it would not ask for a larger TOC disk... is that correct?
What disk should I use the refresh the TOC with???? I have been waiting to get one of these darn backup chips for my PS2 for over a year now... and now that I got it.... NOTHING!
Can someone please help me out here.... am I not refreshing the TOC correctly? Or is it something else that I am missing?
Please help!
Thanks in advance!
