Read and you decide:

From what I read, it's not worth it; at least not yet.

Most of the bad things i have read is by people who didnt know what they were doing or didnt follow the directions correctly. I have an ezi pro on the way and am looking forward to it.

clip kits suck and always will no matter who makes them . even the xbox soderless mods suck and there are less than half the points the ps2 has . you cant just clip a pin to a pin and expect it to make a good connection . the points are far to sensitive and delicate . everyone seems to say the people installed them wrong but wasn't the whole point of this to be so anyone could do it ?

Anyone can do it IF they do it right. Many people were putting too much pressure on the clips and taking them on and off which its not made for. Or they are pushing them down in the wrong way.

ok , but at the same time al the complaints on the dms forums speak for them self , the chip just came out and there has only been 1000 shipped to customers and already there are tons of people with dead ps2s as a result . but you will obveiously beleave what you want because you are already defending a chip all over these forums and did not even get it yet .
please dont think i have anything against you or dms , i just already seen a mountain of dead ps2s from the magic clip kits over the past few years and this is no different . even the few that got those clip kits to work had problems soon after .

Like I said, without a review from a expert modder (or perhaps several modders) that actually tested this particular chip, then this kind of debates are quite futile.

i hope you are 1 of the lucky ones that gets it to work . my whole thing is whats the point of getting a solderless mod if you need to have a professional installer do the installation ? I sure wouldn't care to pay alot of extra money just so the installer has less work . and i have already seen first hand how this idea can fail . people may think i would bad mouth somthing like this because i install chips but the simple fact is every time somthing like this comes out i end up with even more biz in repairs . and even if it did work there would still be plenty of people that would prefer it to be soldered because it is more stable and reliable .

You are right the solder versions are more stable becasue they are a solid connection that can be hard to beat if an expert does it. This is for people who dont know how to solder or dont have the resources to do so. Ive already read the manual a few times now just to be good and familiar with exactly how it should be installed.

Obviously this EZI chip is meant for the unskilled solder PS2 users, and thus the main question is what is the range from difficult to EZI (pun intended) to successfully install a working chip for a n00b(newbie).

I have done an xbox solderless and it works fine. it does not get moved around and only adults are around it wich im sure helps.
I have tried to fix a friends messed up solder job on a ps2 but he melted to many points, and traces away.
so im a little nervous about trying it to mine.

chaseacej be sure to let us know how it goes with yours. i want to hear first hand from someone who has one and tried to install it. they always make it seem easier than what it is.
Thanks for all the replys everyone.

Hi chaceacej from the DMS forums, oh and hi SCE, remember our old argument about the EZI, meh. There will be problems with everything as long as EZI has more working ones then faulty ones, its ok.

Let us know how your pro goes Chase

SCE, you are incorrect. Yes, thousands of people have received the chip, but TONS do NOT have problems. There are way more chips that work perfectly, than those who cannot get theirs to work. And of the people on the DMS forums, only 2 or 3 have damaged their PS2 and only a dozen or so cannot get it to work, yet most of them have admitted it was an installation problem on their behalf. Also, I wouldn't say you are lucky if you get it to work, but that you are unlucky if you do not get it to work.

Along with chase, I will post my review of the DMS4 EZI Pro once I receive mine, and I hope I don't screw up the installation :)

Cheers,

Tony

Still works like a charm! Have had no problems yet. Most people's problems were during the installation they messed something up and tried to fix it or they didnt know what they were doing. This is a great modchip i recommend it to anyone.
