No, you can't push DivX quality any further:
-ripping is a digital copy process and it doesn't matter what tool (SmartRipper, cladMdec, etc) you use for this, it's always 1:1 identical to the original DVD's quality (claiming anything else is like saying "Explorer copies .zip files with much better quality than WinCommander")
-DVD2AVI/whatever frameserver process you use doesn't change the quality either, it just makes VOB video readable by other applications
-encoder is always the DivX codec, it doesn't matter what tool you use to use the codec (VirtualDub, etc), the actual encoding is done by DivX codec and nothing else matters
only things that might weaken the video quality are the filters that you apply to the video, like resizing, deinterlace, IVTC, etc.. But quality between various filters is really, really, really small and normally unnoticeable.

Ah, you're speaking of VCDs then. Clears things slightly. SVCD provides much better quality than VCD and should be used whenever possible as most of the modern stand-alone DVD players support it as well.
Use SVCD.cfm" class="forum_link" target="_blank">DVD2SVCD package for backing up your DVDs to SVCD format, you can download it from our site.

That's correct, you set it up and make sure you have enough HDD space and just leave it running for(ever) overnight and you have ready CD images that you just burn to CDRs.
