Hi,
I have mailed this question about 5 minutes ago but I am not quite sure if it was posted. If it did get posted then please excuse the repitition,if it did not post, then here goes:
I have a Toshiba laptop with 1.2ghz celeron,Win XP O/S WITH 256MEGS OF RAM.The CD drive does not recognize a disk when I pop in the disk and comes with this message.
"Please load a disk in drive D" which is the cd drive.
I checked the system under control panel and everything including the drivers are recognized by the comp.
Can you please HELP?

Hi,
Thanks for your replying. The notebook is a Toshiba Satellite 1800.It was purchased from the dealer. I can always take it back to be repaired under warranty, but I was wandering if it is a minor problem that I can straighten out without openning the machine then I would like to give it a shot. Can you think of something that I can try?
Thanks

i have checked the toshiba reseller portal, whichgave me all the details on your machine
we had this problem before, a engineer had to change the main system board as the controller on the board had failed, same fault
seems to be a little too common this problem, i would suggest your get it uplifted to the toshiba workshop
at the moment we are getting failing rates of 40% its the drive iteself and 60% of the time it is the board at fault
