Difficulties with Dazzle DVC

My Operating System is Windows98. I had the Dazzle DVC all hooked up and working once, but now, going back to it after an extended lay-off, it refuses to cooperate.

When I try to capture video from my analog camcorder, I get one of two error messages following the "Initiation" start: 1) Video Source Not Detected, or 2)Hardware Is Not Responding, and a further note that I might have to close the program, unplug and replug the device and try again (doesn't work!)

When I try to capture from vcr, I get the "Video Source Not Detected" thing.

However, when I connect the camcorder to Dazzle thingie to vcr, the tape in the camcorder will play on the tv properly.

The capture device's green power light is on; the amber "ready" light is on.

What am I doing wrong?
