I live in central europe {slovakia} and we have alphabet based on latin, russian, etc. combination so have big troubles with subtitles.

I tired create SVCD movie from AVI[divx,xvid] with permanent subtitles and i was succesful. Movie is original in english and subtitles in slovak.

I merge xvid-ed AVI with subtitles using VirtualDub with textsub plugin and next i frameserved it to TMPGEnc.
With it i did svcd movie.

But some character are diferent that original subtitle file. e. g.> 'anglièan', and right is 'angličan'. That word means english citizen. I tired many conversions but any sucsessful. And setting charset too. But central europe isn't here, so where is problem. Please help me...
