OK, I've read all the posts, and am wondering if this will work:

51" hitachi
1gig pIII 256ram
Wireless card, router, Internet

I am considering the ATI HDTV Wonder, All I need is a kick ass output to the HDTV. Which is the best root for the least amount of money. I know I can't buy the Ati in Canada yet, but the border is only 45mins away.

Can I buy a DVI cable to go from a standard VGA signal to DVI? or an Nvida DVI to the HDTV DVI with PowerStriP?

Thanks.

I have just purchased the ATI HDTV wonder What a nightmare first of all the software installation is godawful, the system requirements state that it is compatible with any VGA with more than 64 mb ram this is not true the DTV feature will not launch at all on my machine (dtv failed to initalize) is the only information it gives as to why this is a link to ati's help section I followed the instructions and it still does not work http://www.ati.com/support/infobase/4586.html

these are links to some forums I have visited to try to solve the problem it seems that there are many people having various problems with this. I also noticed that while watching a show that was recorded if you fast foward through commercials or whatever it absolutley will not stop fast fowarding If you make this mistake you have to completely exit the program and start over. ATI's Tech support HAHA With no toll free number I sat on hold (long distance to Canada) for over half an hour before becoming frustrated enough that I hung up
the worst part is I had to drive over an hour to pick this card up at Comp USA ( the nearest place that sells any hardware) and yes I will drive over an hour to take this card back to compusa take my advice spend your $150 on something else

FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION IT COMES BUNDLED WITH THE SOFTWARE

Wow, thanks for the advice. I was interested because it's the only cheap HDTV over the air reciever I can find, with built-in tivo like functions, and a tv out.

Try this site
http://www.myhometheater.homestead.com/vgacable.html

It tells you how to make a vga to component cable.
I think most HDTV tv's have component input.

Don't know if this will work for what you want though.

If you try it let us know how it does.
