PS2 V6 And the DMS4 Lite Chip

I have a V6 PS2 and recently ordered a DMS4 Lite Mod Chip. In the manual it says "Only PS2 versions 9 and above can successfully read DVD+R media 100% of the time. It is a hit or miss with previous versions, which might require a laser adjustment (this is recommended by experience professionals only)". I was wondering if anyone here was running a DMS 4 Lite on a V6 PS2... and if it runs DVD+R backups.

Any experiences you could share on this would be greatly appreciated.
