I need help i am being sued by the RIAA for downloading stuff off of imesh... i called for the settlement stuff and they want me to pay an outrageous amount in 90 days! it isn't possible for me to pay it... what do i do! i need help!

the law says you are innocent til proven guilty so they have to prove that you were downloading things that you shouldn't have so stand your ground as they are using the guilt trip on you!!

they want me to pay 3k which i don't have and cannot get in the time amount... they say they have lists of all the stuff i had downloaded so i don't know what to do

as ddp said, stand your ground...innocent until proven guilty. make them show you proof of what you've done before you pay.

yeah, definately talk to an attorney, but from what I've heard they prosecute you for sharing files over DLing them. its like the difference between buying weed (misdemeanor) and selling weed (felony).

I myself have been sent papers about the RIAA lawsuit. What does the settlement papers say? What did you do and who did you contact to get settlement papers.

I don't know where you live but in Holland the law states that downloading films etc. is not illegal, sharing them is !!

so like all the others say, consult your attorney !!
