Problems with avi file with audio in mp4 format

Hi There, I have just downloaded a avi film and the problem iam having with it is beacuse its an mp4 audio format i have picture but no sound. I want to be able to convert this so i can put it on a dvd'r and play on my home dvd player with either dvdsanta or winavi converter. Can somebody tell me of a program and how to get the audio on this avi film to mp3 or another format so i can hear the sound please? Many Thanks.

hi
you could load FFDShow i had an mpeg4 with mp3 audio that wouldnt load at all, after FFDShow it was ok!
i could then load to TMPGEnc plus

neither program did any good :( I kept getting error messages with the first program saying the program has caused errors and must shut down.

sorry not sure what app you mean? but you need to turn up from 0 to 2 proirity for DIRECTSHOW in the AFAPI tab / enviromental settings
