Everytime i go to use the slide tool i can never find anything to grip onto under the tray of the playstation, can anyone give me some tips on opening and closing the ps2.

It can be done, it takes practice. Be sure that you're not using it upside down. The side where it's flat all over is the correct side. I have just bought the slide tool also and can hook the DVD tray but so far none of my backups work so maybe I'm pulling out the tray wrong or too fast.
