I have a client that wants me to work his project from source aquired from a Sony HDR-FX1 in the 1080i format. Assuming I'm running premier pro 1.5 with HDV plug in, will I be able to play the contents of the tape from any deck(camera) besides the HDR-FX1, it's big brother(which may not be out?), or the JVC HD 1-chip cam? I need to cap the footage, but don't plan on buying a technology that may evaporate in 2 years.

Are the HD caps from the HDR-FX1 huge file sizes when raw? Does anyone think that it is pointless to shoot in a format that can't be displayed most places? Due to the fact that when I encode it to Mpeg 2 it will no longer be HD, even though it will be 16:9. I was hoping to avoid this format for quite some time, but Sony has screwed me.

Any experiences with this format/camera will be HUGELY appreciated.
