hi all hope you all have a good crimbo :-)
what it ia i am useing TMPGEnc Plus 2 convert a divx film 2 mpeg2 so i can play it on my dvd ,
but it seems 2 be taking along time 2 convert it and its only half the film as i have split it , here is the spec in witch i am working with its a divx film size is 480 x 576
aspect ratio is4:3
frame rate 25fps
and for half the film its takining 15 hours 2 convert is this right
and no i dont have a poor computer :-)

try using VCD instead of SVCD. Converting DivX to SVCD is not going to give you the greatest quality anyhow because you are going from compressed lossy format to another compressed lossy format.
If you insist on faster speeds for SVCD creation, use DVD2SVCD in conjunction with CCE (Cinema Craft Encoder) version 2.5

thing is i want 2 convert it 2 mpeg2 so i can play it on my dvd
but i got it running a bit faster now i did half a film in 2 hours witch is ok but i cant seem 2 get any sound
the bit in this program were you split it there is a bar ubove the film bar for sound but there is nothing showing (if you get me :-) )
i have looked at everything on settings and still no sound .
the divx film its self has sound but the TMPGEnc Plus does not seem 2 be able 2 convert it .
ps hope you all hade a good few days drinking as i have :-)

if you are using DVD2SVCD, do yourself a favor and don't split the file prior to encoding, let DVD2SVCD do the splitting for you.

i have run dvd2svcd and i end up with 3 files i used tmpge 2 conver it 2 mpeg but with them 3 files there is on for the video and it asks for the audeo file but it will not exept any ov them files .
i am not very good at these things , but i am shore its gota be easer than what i am doin .
i am in the UK does this make any difrence ?
if any one could help and write me a guide on what 2 do in simple terms for me :-) i would much greatfull.

well, you can check out svcdhelp.com, other than that it really depends on your hard drive speed and your processor, mine on my laptop is 5200 rpm ( i think) and a celeron 1.5, it encodes at about 30-50 frames per second which at a 3 hours takes about 60-90min

I was having the exact same problem with TMPGEnc too. What I did was download VirtualDub
and only encode the audio. You can do this by loading the mmove and clicking "Save as .WAV." and when that is done, using the .wav file you just made as the audio source for the movie. Let it save as a .m2v file and a .mp2 file, and it should work out.

out of curiousity, why use tempgenc and virtual dub instead of just virtual dub?

because virtual dub does not re-encode video from avi to mpeg2, you need TMPGenc for that.

okay, have you used virtual dub the mpeg2 edition? I have it, but haven't used it on mpeg2's yet so I wanted to know what you thought of it, or if it's buggy?
