Can anyone at least show me pictures of where to put the Magic Switch tools? If you have a digital camera can you photograph where the Magic Switch tools are, how to put them there, and then upload(copy & paste) it to your post? I just spent a lot of money on Swap Magic 3.3 and Magic Switch. Can you please show me images(photographs) on where to put the Magic Switch tools and how to put them? By the way I have PS2 Slim(SCPH-7000x).

Unfortunately, I still cannot get Tool C in place. Rather, if I do, between the plastic hinge and the metal clip, it only goes down 6 millimeters, and nothing works. The flip top stays open, and the only way to close it seems to be by breaking Tool C!!! Can anyone tell me where I am going wrong? Thanks for any help!

You have to take tool c out to close your pstwo. A better option would be the slimtool http://www.slimtool.co.uk

Thanks, I managed! Forget about people trying to SELL stuff for the switches! I managed with a rolled up tiny paper ball (switch A), scotch tape (B) and a piece of doubled-up straw (C)! Works brilliantly! At last, after wasting money on those useless magic stuff... Works BOTH with the top open AND closed. And if i want, I can make the top actually click when it's close. Thanks for all the topics and replies to this incredibly knowledgeable and helpful group! We newbies would all be lost without you all! Cheers,

My God! Did you use a 700.000-million pixel camera?!? Wonderful pics! Thanks a million, I wish you could advise more newbies with these pictures, they should be mandatory! In fact, I think these are the ONLY pictures on the Net where everything is clear from alpha to omega... Thanks, & good gaming.

Actually, my straw-piece method worked when I pushed it down BY and not BETWEEN the hinges, I inserted it between the right-hand side plastic hinge and the metal piece next to the spring. If anyone wants to try...

Did you squeeze it flat before inserting it, the two flaps should squeeze through.

which do you mean by the flaps? as the one shown in here?
http://www.jspot.net/ps2.htm

you're right, yours doesn't have flaps, it should just slide in and work... I've never used that one. Mine is clear on

http://www.jspot.net/ps2.htm

but still it did not satisfy me, I had to leave the lid open. I mangaged to get it working AND close the lid by following word-of-mouth advice, and I worked with a rolled up tiny paper ball (switch A), scotch tape (B) and a piece of a doubled-up straw (C).

It goes like this:

1. roll up a tiny ball of paper and squeeze it tight, then stick it flat over sensor A, inside its little hole;
2. get some scotch-tape, push sensor B up away from the centre of the disc-holder and tape it in position - you can then pierce the tape with a needle so that the plastic hub of the lid can go down as you close it;
3. the real trick: get a plastic straw, cut it the same lenght as an AA battery or slightly longer, then cut it lengthwise to reduce it perimeter by half. Squeeze it along its length so that it's flat. Then fold it in a V-shape and push it down between the hinge over sensor C. You have to fiddle with this part until you hit the right depth and position, but it didn't take long. The straw is flexible, so that the part sicking out easily bends when you close the lid. Or else, for sensor C you can use the tape-over-sensor method explained very clearly in http://www.jspot.net/ps2.htm

You'll manage, don't worry, it's a question of trial and error!

Good luck,

Gabriele

Believe me (I surfed for hours on end before coming to this conclusion) the BEST BEST BEST BESTEST OF THE BEST is a good careful look at http://www.jspot.net/ps2.htm
even if it is slow due to the top quality of the pics, it's absolutely totally worth it. To close the lid while playing backups you either have to use their tape-over-sensor method or the "magic-straw" method I explained earlier. They are both easy and WORK! Try try try, and let me know when you crack it! You are close.

As for the crappy plastic pieces - you're right migarth. I wasted that money too...

gazzaro is right. refer to that link for the idea of where should u put your tissue-ball, toothpick, and straw.

ive managed to get mine running with the above last friday. the tricky part is the tool C, il suggest you to thicken ur straw with some duct-tape to have it stays securely to the correct position once u locate it... and try fitting the thing in with the machine running, coz when u're adjusting the straw to the right angle, the beam mechanism will move to the center when u hit the sensor below (which is what u want to achieve).

and lastly il have to say this. MAGIC SWITCH SUCKS. none of the 3 piece of crappy plastics work properly. try google for other alternatives or make ur own using the straw/tissue/toothpick combo.

good luck guys. ;)

ya i also ordered the stupid magic switch and part C broke on me. i was so frickin mad, but i did some more lookin around on the net and found the slim tool. for part c with the slim tool you just drop it in the same place as it would go with the magic switch and you can close the lid, ive had it working for about two months now. so i would advise anyone looking into magic swap to buy the magic tool instead of the magic switch or the ghost switch.

migarth is right too. Don't go spending money on the net for nerve-wracking plastic rubbish. DIY is best!
Good luck
