1) Only buy 4x media. Even with the newest firmware for your burner, some 8x media can act weirdly on some older 4x burners.

2) Try updating your firmware to the latest version. IT might help.

3) Don't buy memorex. Big problems there, and as dvd media goes, it's as unreliable as it gets.

Very true!

Which ones did you get?
1-prodisc r03
2-Phillips c08
3-cmc-e01

All 3 of these manufacturers produce memorex +8x.Did you get the prodiscs?

Hey movies27,which one of the 3 manufacturers did you get?

Will they let you re-rip them?

Have same problem, but only with Sony dvd burner. It is very fussy. If you use DVD info, sometimes you will see that there are up to 3 manufactures for discs in the same 25 pack - even with the Sony label.
I've had best luck (so far) with) TDK and Fuji with minimal problems with Imation.

Try using Roxio 6 to burn your movies it lets you select a speed at which you can burn.

When talking about Roxio, it would help to be specific which Roxio application we're talking about. There are lots of known issues with Roxio Easy CD/DVD Creator. On the other hand, I've not heard of any problems with Roxio Easy CD/DVD Copy and I've used it frequently without any trouble. For easy of use, I prefer it over other burning apps for simple burns (i.e., no shrink required).
