I have been backing up dvds for quite some time now using Prodisc and Ritek dvd-r 4x media. I normally create a stick on label with "Memorex Express It" but have been having problems with some of my backups not playing or pixelating and stopping during playback. Peel off the label and no more problems. I have tried the problem discs in two different home players and my ps2 with the same problems. I like having the labels on but if the dvds won't play then they're useless. Anybody else have this problem or have an opinion regarding using labels?

It seems you asked a question, and answered it by yourself.
Labels cause nothing but problems for most people. If you really need a label, then you need to buy a printer that prints directly on the dvd, and buy printable dvdr's.
If not then use a "nonsolvent" based marker like a sharpie, problems solved.
good luck

You can get the EPSON R200 printer that will print directly on printable media which runs at a descent price. I have had the printer for two weeks now and it is great. You cant even tell the difference between the originals and the backups. The picture quality is absolutely amazing. The printer runs about $99 in the store but the R200 has been replaced with the R300 which is $199. The only difference between the R200 and the R300 is that the R300 has a photo dock that allows you to print pictures directly from a digital camera. I dont have a digital camera so I saved my self the money and got the R200 and I as well as others will suggest that you get the EPSON R200 if you want labels on your disks. If you want the EPSON R200 you will most likely have to get it online. If you want the R300 and want to pay the extra $100 then you can get that at any store. Also I did find my EPSON R200 at Office Depot($107 after taxes) but Best Buy and every other store only had the R300 cause it is newer. Here is a link from NEWEGG for the printer and I would buy it from them, you will not get a better deal ($94 after shipping) and they ship uber fast. Good Luck printing your labels!

If you want more info on this sujbect here is a link to a thread about it.

the r200 is great, if you buy off of ebay you can get one still in the box brand new for around $80 but the ink is expensive in the stores its about $80 for all six cartridges at walmart so try these if you get one
https://private.abacus24-7.com you will have to copy and past because the url starts with https instead of http
