I have been trying to make a flash cd for my spider chipv1.1 i have a x box v1.0 and the only bios I have is X2_4983.06 can i take my x box hard drive out and hook it up to my computer and move the flash to the x box hard drive would that work if so how do I go about doing that. is there a band of cdrw's that work the best for flahshing the dvd drive in the x box is a thompason x box v1.0 spider chip v1.1

if you have the new flashbios you can flash over the network...network flashing is simple, great feature.

did you rename the bios? did you add a dummy file when you burned the disc?

Yeah I renamed the X2_4983.06 bios file to bios.bin and used a program I found to make a dummy file 100mb I did a dvd data disc I draged the bios.bin file and the dummy file over and clicked burn the files show up when i check it on my computer but when i try it in my x box it just says no bios found halting.

does your modchip have a flash protect switch?


are you sure you didn't rename it to bios.bin.bin?

I don't have a flash protect switch i have a on and off switch that turns the chip off but i did notice sometimes when i drag the bio.bin file over it turns to bios.bin.bin.

find your bios file and right click on it, select rename, type bios

Also I'm using FUJIFILM DVD-R for data and video up to 8x speed. and a pioneer dvd writer

the bios is already a .bin file so if you rename it bios.bin, it will be bios.bin.bin

try burning at a slower speed, like 2x

are you sure you even have a bios? i just read another one of your posts and you didn't even have a bios.

the x2_4983 should be 256k in size

you can try a cdrw

ok i'm going to try it with a dvd-r fuji film data disc and rename the X2_4983.06 to bios 100mb dummy file i will let you know how it goes.

most people install a dashboard and apps....slayer's is a autoinstaller that will install everything for you...no need to ftp with a autoinstaller.

What about auto-installer.deluxe v1.01 i read here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/141037 that i need a dash board because i need to hook the x box up to my computer to make back up game. is this true and do you know where i can find a dash board that wiil work with my setup.

all autoinstaller's install a dash and apps

slayer's 2.6 is the best in my opinion

In order to make backups you'll need a program like dvd2xbox. Look 'in the usual places' for this one. I personally have Evox v3935 installed as my dashboard and use dvd2xbox and they both work great together.
