Hi
I bought theSlim Tool Set for V12 "slim" PSTwo on Modchip.com... Here is the link: http://www.modchip.com/ps2/v12slimtool.htm

I heard that if u use it on the slim pstwo to play backup games ur laser will eventually burn out, like in 2 hours.

Is this true? Do i have to install a laserfix like this one? http://www.modchipstore.com/PS2_V12_Laser_Fix_PCB_For_Slim_Line_Console-p-16200.html

If ur burning ur laser then its no use, the slimtool. Please help!!

not sure on that one but i have been running games from cdr and dvdr for longer than 2 hours and i havent had any probs...i even left it on overnight cos i fell asleep :D

Well, I've had my pstwo tape modded for months playing backups and it works just fine. I guess it was mainly the first bad batch of the pstwo's that were having the laser issues.

According to my count here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/158802 , I've had mine tape/tissue modded for about two weeks now without any real problems yet. Heat seems acceptable, and no reading problems after I changed my Alcohol 120% settings. I have one of the newer shipped units, though, with a date code of 5A. I usually use mine for hours at a time.
