i currently have a single layer burner, If i upgraded too a dual layer one would I be able to back up a complete disc without the need for compression and will standard dvd players play it

Yes you would, but there is only +R dual layer available right now not -R. It is as simple as using Decrypter in "ISO Reade R" mode and then turning around and using "ISO Write W" mode. Keep in mind you still need a decryption proggy because the dis is still encrypted. You could use the method I explained above or you could use a proggy like AnyDVD and just use your burning software and do a disk copy..
