DVDShrink was built in the old days when DVD blanks cost $5 and there was a huge financial incentive to compress a dual-layer DVD to a single layer blank.
Times have changed. High quality blanks cost $0.50, or less. ANY compression will affect the video quality of your DVD, and at least some of you, when you get your 50" HDTV, will be mightily pissed off that you used DVDShrink. For a lousy $0.50 more, you can spread the copy across two blanks and get a PERFECT copy.
SO YOU HAVE TO GET UP ONCE TO CHANGE DISKS, SO EFFEN WHAT?? Most of you could probably lose some weight anyway. What is this DVDShrink FETISH you all have? It's only $0.50.

How the fuck does this affect you? You could shove 2 dvd's up your ass for all I care. Why don't you get a better paying job and buy a DL burner and DL media and have an even better backup. I'll tell you why, because it's your choice.

I have a 50 in widescreen LCD projection TV and the compressed movies look great. Plus I have a 5 disc changer so I don't have to get up for the ones that I did split over two disks. Honey, can you get me a beer so I don't have to get up.
Plus, alot of us have kids and don't want the original ruined. I just do the movie and take out stuff to reduce compression. The kids don't care about menus and stuff, they just want the flick. Beats what hollywood says..buy another original. Plus it is fun to do. "Honey, can I have some chips and maybe one of Scuba Pete's special drinks!!!" Everyone at my house loves Pete.
I was so ugly when I was a kid, my parents used to take me everywhere just so they wouldn't have to kiss me goodbye.

Most movies don't require much compression after the extras and what not have been removed, and the little compression that is necessary has very little affect ont he quality on my 65" LCD TV as well. :-)
All of you are very true. I think due to his lack of mental acumen, and his intelligence quotient of .03 he will not respond. Since all you guys just tore him a fresh asshole, he merely has nothing left to say.

If you don't like the output from Shrink don't use it. I don't care for it so I don't use it for compressing anything except menus but that doesn't mean I'm going to talk down to people. To be perfectly honest I'm jealous of people who are happy with Shrink's results because it means less effort and expense than I go through to make backups.
I think this thread is done.
BTW, if you were paying $5 for a blank disc when Shrink came out you should have done some comparison shopping. IIRC Riteks were about $1 each on spindles of 100.
