My DVD burner won't read that I inserted a DVD+R discs

Help, I have a toshiba DVD rom SD-R5112
It will play Dvd's and burn Cd's but when I try to burn a DVD+r disc it doesn't read that I have put a disc in. I have tried two brands of discs so it is not that.
Using Dvd X copy express it does step 1 reads the disc then tells me to do step 2 and insert a dvd+r, then doesn't read it.
Using Win Media player it shows no disc installed when I put a dvd+r in th e drive
Using Nero 6, it reads drive busy when i insert a dvd+r
Any Ideas

Toshiba SD-R5112 DVD-R/RW Drive Review.

A quick google shows that your drive uses only DVD-R/RWs. It will not use a +R. So, use R-Disc.
