I dunt know if this works for every1, but it works for me.
When i get a question mark beside a subtitle file i just turn the dvd player off, then back on. I keep doing this until eventually the dvd player reads the disk properly and i get the speech bubble instead of the question mark. It takes me usually around 20 times off and on but in the end its worth it. so give it a try, just dunt give up the first time. Try again and again.

But this may only be for my messed up player. So try it, and let me know.
