Odd problem burning CDs

I have a Micro Advantage 16ddvdrw-a13 and am using nero OEM 6.6.0.8. I can burn DVDs just fine but when I try to burn a CD the burn process fails at 50% with either the error "Could not perform fixation" or "Unspecified target error"

If anyone has any ideas I would be very greatful.
