I ripped a region 2 dvd and I used smartripper to do it. I ripped an episode and it was supposed to be 40+ mins. long but it says 35 mins. and I ripped it with no errors. When I compare it to the original dvd they both play fine, but the ripped ep. time stops at 35 mins. yet the movie keeps playing the full 40+ mins. for some reason. Why is that?

hi there try using a different burning program. if the disc your copying is css or region protected then use Nero 6 in conjunction with dvd region and css free 5.60 if the original disc size is above 4.7GB then you will have to compress it using a tool such as DVD Shrink or Nero recode( bundled with Nero vision express) it all takes patience to get right i have been doing movies for 12 months now and i still stuff up every now and agin
this is the price we pay for ripping off the system

aleitz,
Since you mentioned region 2 I am going to presume that it is in PAL format and you converted to NTSC. If that is what you have done then that explains the missing 5 minutes. The framerates are different

come to think of it your right PAL format is around 24 frames per second whereas NTSC is 29 if i remember correctly NTSC is better quality picture than PAL format though some tv systems do not agree with NTSC \ SECAM formats check your manual to be sure. did you try copying the disc as region and css free IE. no encryptions????

what i use for the tough rips.run decryptr in file mode.be sure to pay atttention to where the file goes.use DVD Shrink to encode.then Nero should take over.this has never faild me.no matter what the region.and when you get through it should be region free.
