DVD Drive Reading or Burning?

I've just installed a new DVD drive,and i've noticed that when burning a disc the read indicator flashes along with the burning indicator.Sometime the indicator stops for a few seconds,and then continues.Someone said that this could be caused by my software being set to write and verify.I'm using the lastest Nero vision express software,and i can't find an option that allows for this write and verify to be switched off.I've had no problems with any of the discs that i've burned,it just seems strange,as when i burn normal audio discs,this does not happen.Any ideas?
