I was considering modding my xbox so that it can burn games. I was thinking of going with the spiderchip and a 200 gb HD but i had a few questions...
1.) What's the best chip out there right now to burn games?
2.) How will xbox live work after my xbox is modded? Will it even be possible?
3.) How hard are the chips to install generally?
4.) Are there any major drawbacks to modding an xbox to burn games?

I wouldn't suggest the spider chip personally because I have not dealt with them and I've heard many bad things. I would though go with the Xenium Ice chip with the solderless adaptor because it's easy to install and fast (unless you have a v1.6 xbox then that's up to you, the spider chip is the cheapest)

Most chips today now have a on/off with led control to insure that you know when your modchip is off or on. and when it's off xbxlive can't ban you for that reason.

Depends on the chip that you get and what all you want or xbox ver.

no except you have the possibility to make it a paper weight.
