I Trying to backup Little Black Book and the Passion of Christ to my hard drive using DVD Decrypter. I get the following error:
I/O Error
Device:{1:0:0}_NEC DVD_RW ND_2510A 2.16 (D:)(ATA)
SciStatus: 0x02
Interpretation: Read(10)-Sector: 21408
SenseArea: F0 00 03 00 00 53 A0 0A 00 00 00 00 02 00 00 00 00 00
Interpretation: No Seck Complete

The computer is asus motherboard, AMD XP 2800, 1 GIG memory, large hard drive, Windows XP pro, Nec 2510A DVD-RW, etc.

I have been using Any DVD and DVD Decrypter, then DVD shrink and burning with nero. Trying to make a backup copy of my sons movies. Had almost the same error message when trying the Passion of Christ.

What am I doing wrong? Please help.

Are you saying that you're using AnyDVD and Decrypter at the same time? If so, try just one or the other and make sure that you have the most recent versions of each.
I/O Errors in Decrypter usually indicate something physically wrong with the disc. Make sure there's no scratches or fingerprints. Might be a good time to clean the lens in the drive as well.

I am backing this up to my hard drive. I don't get to the burn process until I use DVD Shrink. I have updated my firmware on the NEC DVD drive, and I have the latest version of DVD Decrypter and AnyDVD. Thanks for the responce, please help.

I took your suggestion and tried DVD Decrypter and AnyDVD individually but still had error messages.

I backed up both these movies recently and AnyDVD had no problems removing copy protection. As suggested, be sure to clean the disc well prior to begining to copy. Might help, can't hurt.

both of those discs have the new ArccOS copy
protection which involves deliberately writing
bad sectors to the disc, and referencing sectors
which are outside the edge of the media.

The latest version (3.5.2) of DVDDecrypter works
around the issue. Also, If you'd rather go back
to VHS than run/install Microsoft Windows, simply
run it under Wine on Linux :)

Anyone know of Linux-native rippers which will work
around this fairly new form of copy protection?
