I used DVD Shrink and ended up with a bunch of VOB files etc. My burned "MyDVD" can't read VOB files.

Are there any free burners that can take it from here?

Can DVD Decrypter finish the job?

Decrypter will only burn ISO's. You can set up Shrink to use Decrypter to burn automatically after it encodes the film by following SubaPete's guide here:

Did I make a mistake by creating VOB files? They are all I have to work with. How do I get them burned onto a DVD-r?

You should be able to open the VOBs with Shrink then process them according to Pete's guide. Open Shrink and click the "Open Files" tab (right next to the "Open Disc" tab) then navigate to the folder where you have your VOBs :)
