There are many ways to perform the 48->44.1KHz conversion of audio.

For example, DVD2AVI (and the more recent variant of it, DGIndex) have an option to do this audio sampling rate conversion, with different quality settings.

tMPGEnc also can convert 48->44.1KHz, but there is no quality setting in tMPGEnc.

Do you know if the tMPGEnc conversion is good?

How does it compare to the conversion done by DVD2AVI?

DVD2AVI audio sampling rate conversion is quite slow, so is it worth it, or is it just as good to use the tMPGEnc conversion?

Wrong. TMPGenc has an audio setting:
Option___Environmental setting____Audio Engine. You can select 'Sampling frequency convertitor' Low Quality (fast)/High Quality (slow) /External program (such as SSRC).
But using BeSweet (install also its GUI!), which already uses SSRC, when you transform 48 kHz .AC3 --> 44.1 kHz .MP2 for SVCD is the best way. You select the 'Downconvert Sample Rate' chek box and it makes the 48 --> 44.1 kHz conversion with SSRC.
Even better is choosing Audio__Output Method____Decode to WAV in DVD2AVI. You just have to select the right track and it makes the 2 GB uncompressed audio WAV trace that TMPGenc can load as 'audio input' instead of the movie. Alas, more HD space is required but since you encode a full WAV you obtain the best audio you can make.

Ok, thanks for the tip, but how does the TMPGEnc rate conversion compares with the conversion dome by DVD2AVI ? (in terms of quality)
