Can't retrieve critical data backed up on to a DVD+RW disk

I used Memorex DVD+RW media to backup some critical data and when it came time to use it (2 hours later) the disk is readable but all the folders are empty. I can see the directory tree but there are NO files in any of the subdirectories (6 folders).
Oddly the disk took 30 minutes to burn, 4,400 MB, no errors and when I look at the "used" space it says 4,400 MB. It seems to have the data but I can't see it.
Any ideas???????

I would try changing your folder options. First open the directory of where the files are missing then click tools then folder options. Then click view and click on "show hidden files and folders" and uncheck "hide protected operating system files" and click apply. If that does not work try refreshing your files. If that does not work I would copy a folder from the dvd+rw and paste it to my hardrive and look to see if there are any files inside. I have read that dvd's or cd-r's have a limit on how many files or folders can be recorded. If you go beyond that limit you will not be able to view the media's content correctly.
