Problem with audio in TMPGenc

I am trying to encode an avi with tmpgenc. I have doen this quite a few times before and never had a problem but now for some reason the audio isn't working? I stripped the .wav from the avi using Virtual Dub and that wav plays fine. the original avi also plays perfect. The tmpgenc outputted m2v plays fine and the outputted mp2 has size(342mb) but is silent? I've ripped avis like this for a while now and have never had this problem. Thanks for any help.
