Sometimes, there are "Special Features" of a movie on a second disc, which makes the DVD a 2-disc Special Edition or something like that.

Recently, I have rented the 2-disc Special "Artificial Intelligence" DVD, region 1 of course, and it has all the special features stored in Disc 2.

As you might know about these "goodies", there are seperate individual clips which users can see and choose one by one via the DVD menu, and I actually need to extract a specific scene.
As I was told previously, I played every single clip I can find in the DVD from start till end, by none could be extracted by SmartRipper 2.39. All the .VOB files were locked again.
However, using another stand-alone software called Dup-DVD, I was only able to rip clip "Alpha". No matter how many clips I play, how many times I do it, Dup-DVD can only read clip "Alpha". Mysteriously as it sounds, only this "Alpha" clip can be read. The rest were locked.

So, is there any software that can bypass these "locks" and restrictions because I find playing it with a media player just doesn't work... (BTW, I use InterVideo WinDVD v3.10 to play DVDs)

Is my DVD drive causing this problem? Or is it the DVD?

Thanks in advance for swift response and reply to this question!

Haha... I'm answering my own questions, just in case if there are others who need to solved this query too.

I had successfully used DVD Decrypter to rip the Specials on the DVD. http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_decrypter.cfm

So far, DVD Decrypter is the best decrypter I have come across judging from its intelligence and interface. Its easy as heck to use. And it rips the .VOB files at a fast rate!

I have tried smartripper 2.41, CladDVD and now dvddecrypter to rip the special edition of AI. Video part of VOB files is great, but the sound is completely distorted - sorta like a motorboat effect. Any ideas on what could be causing this, or how to fix?

Thnx,
-Bucky

the cavtiation effect that you are getting from your audio is more than likely not a result of the ripping but rather the subsequent conversion. if that helps you.
